This presentation will provide an overview of Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) and the organization’s role in increasing equitable access to healthcare, services, and programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to:
1) define what an intellectual disability is;
2) describe at least two health programs offered by Special Olympics; and
3) identify one way to join Special Olympics’ inclusive health movement.

Caitlin Daikus, MPH, CHES, is the Director of Health and Wellness department at Special Olympics Connecticut, Inc. overseeing health and fitness programs that focus on increasing access to quality health services and programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from Western Connecticut State University in 2008 and received her Master of Public Health (MPH) from Southern Connecticut State University. Caitlin maintains professional certification as a health education specialist, serves as a board member of CT SOPHE, and has experience working in the healthcare field in addition to over thirteen years in the not-for-profit sector.
