Early Professional SIG

The EP SIG is a group of recent graduates in PT and PTA professions that was established as a networking opportunity for APTA CT members. This coalition focuses on the tough issues facing new professionals, meanwhile helping to foster relationships among peers from different areas of physical therapy practice.

What we do:

Geriatrics SIG

The Geriatric SIG is a newly formed group in CT to help assemble APTA CT members who have a common interest in the geriatric population.

Our objectives are:

Whether you are a student, a new professional or a seasoned clinician we encourage you to get involved to help share your knowledge, learn from other professionals, help promote geriatric physical therapy and have some fun!

Neurology SIG

The Neurology SIG has been created to form a community of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students with interest in the practice of neurologic physical therapy here in Connecticut.

Our objectives are:

Oncology SIG

The Oncology SIG of APTA Connecticut is the second Oncology Rehabilitation SIG in the United States. Our purpose is to provide a forum for APTA Connecticut chapter members who have a common interest in oncology rehabilitation.

Our objectives are:

Orthopedic and Manual Therapy SIG

Promoting and progressing the practice of Orthopedics and Manual Therapy for dysfunctions of the Neuro-musculoskeletal System through an open exchange of ideas among like minded practitioners.

The SIG holds meetings and education sessions to discuss different ways to manage dysfunction through Orthopedic and Manual Therapy treatment. This has been performed through round table discussions, lecture format, and with local experts invited to discuss their areas of expertise, as well as lab sessions geared towards an active sharing of ideas.

Membership is limited to Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Students who are members of the APTA CT, however, others are welcome to attend.

Pediatric SIG

The pediatric special interest group (PSIG) provides educational programming for Connecticut physical therapists across pediatric practice settings including Schools, Birth to Three, Hospital Based, and Private Outpatient Clinics. Events are hosted in the evenings and on Saturdays at varying locations across the state. Connecticut’s PSIG also provides opportunities for social connections and professional networking 2-3 times a year. We work closely with the other special interest groups and the APTA CT Board of Directors to support public policy initiatives and keep our members informed regarding local practice issues.

Student SIG

The purpose of the Student Special Interest Group shall be to provide a means by which students, and student affiliate members, have a common interest, and because of their enrollment in a Physical Therapy (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) school.  These students may meet, confer and promote the interest of their classes and schools within the Student Special Interest Group and further develop their role as a student body within the Association.
