A busy June for APTA CT including the Mock House of Delegates, CT Leadership Retreat, Golf Tourney and looking ahead to the upcoming Leadership Congress.
The second half of June has been a whirlwind of activity for the APTA CT Chapter. The Mock House of Delegates on June 17th was a resounding success again this year with nearly 150 members attending and participating. Thank you to the work of Michael Gans as Speaker and that of the university faculty, Linda Bedard (Quinnipiac), Jon Rizzo (UConn) and Kristin Schweizer (Sacred Heart), who supported the students as they developed their arguments for and against this year’s motions.
APTA CT hosted a summer leadership retreat last week with a focus on strategic planning. We developed plans for chapter initiatives to align with the new APTA Strategic Framework for 2030. With workgroups focused on the three core elements of the Strategic Framework: “Advancing our Payment,” “Empowering our Members” and “Evolving our Practice,” the group identified actionable objectives to move the chapter forward over the next year.
Last Tuesday we had a phenomenal turnout for the APTA CT Annual Golf Classic Tournament. Thank you to our Planning Committee including Board member Melania Anderson and member Vic Vaughan. Thank you also to our phenomenal sponsors who made the day possible. Jimmy McKay of PT Pintcast joined us for some great golf, and networking. The golf tournament supports our state legislative efforts. Be on the look-out for interviews and other media from the tournament.
Next week, APTA CT will be represented by several members at APTA’s Payment Advocacy Summit (July 10-11) in Portland, OR. This group, including Chief Delegate, Chris Petrosino, Delegate Michael Gans, Executive Director Jim Leahy and I will be developing opportunities to share resources with our membership upon our return. APTA CT Board Member and Payment Chair, Melissa Boutagy, will be working to facilitate these activities in the second half of the year.
Our Connecticut Delegation will also be in Portland next week for the APTA House of Delegates. The delegation is ready to carry your voice to the national assembly. Thank you to our delegates, Heidi Adamski, Michael Gans, Linda Bedard and Natalie Cifuentes and Chief Delegate, Chris Petrosino.
